Protecting the Future of Hemp

The hemp industry has created hundreds of thousands of jobs, generated billions in economic activity, and given farmers new opportunities since the 2018 Farm Bill. However, hidden provisions in the FY26 Agriculture FDA Appropriations Bill, Section 759 of H.R. 4121 and Section 782 of S. 2256, now threaten to undo it all.

These sections would redefine legal hemp in a way that could devastate farmers and small businesses nationwide. Even worse, this language was quietly inserted without hearings, debate, or input from the committees responsible for regulating hemp.

That’s why Congressman James Comer and 27 bipartisan lawmakers sent a letter to Speaker Mike Johnson urging him to strike these provisions. We strongly agree. Instead of changing the rules behind closed doors, we urge Congress to build a responsible framework: restrict hemp sales to adults 21+, standardize packaging and labeling, and require independent third-party testing.

As a trusted leader in this space, we’ve always done our part to keep the industry safe, compliant, and transparent. Back in July, we met with Congressman Andy Barr to share why protecting hemp matters, not just to businesses like ours, but to farmers and communities across the country. We’ll keep standing up for hemp and fighting to ensure that this industry not only survives, but thrives.
